Since 1970, Carlina Rinaldi has served as a Pedagogista and as Director of the Municipal Infant-Toddler Centers and Preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. She is now a Pedagogical Consultant to Reggio Children, and a Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio in the faculty of Science and Early Education.

From 2004-2007, Carla Rinaldi was a member of the Reggio Emilia City Council. In 2007 and 2008, Carla Rinaldi was appointed as a consultant in several different Commissions of the Italian Ministry of Education.
